That best describes my experience with the wii over the last 2 months (as of writing being owned since may 07). My four year old sister even manage to play some games and have some fun playing, Im 20 and I have fun playing, sometimes even the same games. Wii play and Wii sports are the main culprits in inducing family fun. What about the PS3? Its just not “there” yet; its too expansive, some of the most anticipated exclusives which would of made for a great launch or a great summer for games STILL have not come out, 8 months after launch. Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, GT, Final fantasy etc… maybe by the end of the year (btw i don’t care about blu ray, im not going to replace a 300 dvd library for quality you dont notice unless your tv has a bad video processor or your too close to the screen). How about the Xbox 360?Just not for me i think; credit given where credit is due, its success over the PS3 is well deserved, since it has delivered services and gaming wise (off coarse my concern is the gaming only, to hell with the services, there not dependable where i live anyway). Off coarse i should mention the high hardware failure rates (which are hopefully/supposedly in the past), Microsoft were thankfully very generous in replacing defective units (unless you imported your xbox making the warranty invalid locally, or there isn’t any local warranty claim as is the case where I am).
All that being said, back to the point, the wii is fun. So far the games have been fun and easy to get into (zelda, mario, and wii play & sports). For me its been harder to get into games for the last few years, too much studying, especially after taking a break from gaming for a few weeks, but the games are fundamentally fun and i suppose the motion based controls just help a bit in the immersion. Anyway thats all for now. Peace.
